JUST THE FACTS @EPA: WATER CONSERVATION SPOTLIGHT

Leave it long: Longer grass promotes a more drought-resistant lawn, reduced evaporation, and fewer weeds. Take sprinkler break: Grass isn't really meant to be bright green in the summer.
